World Register of Marine Species

The World Register of Marine Species is an online database on marine taxonomy, driven by almost 300 taxonomic editors. Its main goal is to compile a global, verified list of all marine taxa ever published. In addition to a dedication to maintaining a complete list, the editors also keep up with the 1,500 to 2,000 marine species new to science that get discovered and described each year.
